Reversed Engineered Object Progress 2!

 Here is my second report of progress so far. I made pretty good headway into this, and so far I've only gotten stuck on one object. It's been a little slower then I want, but currently I'm super busy so I'll forgive myself a bit :'D I'm almost complete all the internal workings of the watergun! The biggest challenge so far was shaping the trigger- it had a very clear flat and curved side of the rectangular shape that I had to figure out. There was also getting it bent to the closest degree I could to the real thing. The spring was relatively simple thanks to the tutorials in class. As for the 'plumbing' its mostly just tedious work of creating tubes, shelling them, and lofting some other shapes. It's easy and I usually do a few minutes of it after other work. Laser Cut Final Product!

 Here is the finished product of our surface design project. Below, is my greyscale rendition of my previously colorful design.  And now the printed version!: As you can see, it's already on my wall. I really love how it turned out! The only error I can see is that the darkest part, which was burned off the most, spread charcoal out. I wasn't sure how to clean it with out further rubbing it in and staining the wood, so I left it be. Honestly I love this design more in these more natural colors, it turned out so charming. I would love to work with the laser cutter more in the future :>

Reverse Engineered Object: Progress Update One

 This week has been very hectic, but I still managed to do decent groundwork for this project. I mostly focused on mapping out and figuring out commands I could use, and getting used to the digital calipers. Here's all I've gotten done so far! First I got down basic measurements for every single piece. Of course I will be double checking as I work, but this really helped me break it down and make it look less intimidating. The casing is definitely going to be the hardest part. Lots of filleting, smoothing, and working with curves. Plus, it should be accurate enough to snugly hold the spring cage in it the framing meant for it. I did manage to get some of the shapes into Rhino and mess with rendering a bit. There are small intricacies I'd like to add, like little ridges of plastic and making sure it's evenly hollow throughout. These will be revisited later, as right now I just wanted a base to work from. I honestly can't wait to see how the clear plastic will look re...

Reverse Engineered Object: Selection

 For this project, we will be taking apart an object, dissecting its parts, then measuring each part and putting it into Rhino! Here is what I have selected: °\(^▿^)/° For this project I was super interested in taking apart an old piece of tech. So I went to the thrift store and did some digging. My first find was simple- a cassette tape! I think it will be my first choice in the end, out of all my objects. Also, if you have good eyes, you will see my cats paw in one of the corners :> Second is a choice I'm on the fence about. With this object, it would depend on how complex the inside ends up being. I really like all the clicky buttons and chunky shape, so if things work out I would totally work with it. Here's my 'if all else fails' pick! Though I still think this would be fun to dissect then put back together. Of course I still like the bright neon colours and think the end product (the dissected model in Rhino) would look super fun. Surface Design - Lucky Charms Demon Edition (≖ᴗ≖✿)

 Real World Research: From these findings, I mostly drew from the cat themed ones for my own design. I also liked the bold colors of the floor murals, as well as the simplicity they had. I wanted my design to be simple, cute, but bold and eye catching. The Design: There are actually two that I created. I'll put both here but know that I'm leaning towards the rainbow demon one. I love both but one works more like a pattern then the other- that other one was more of a test to see if I could make cool button designs. The Wizards Villa (❍ᴥ❍ʋ) [Castle Project]

(˵•́◡•̀˵)━✧.*    The Wizard's Villa *✲☆⋆(˘ᴗ˘ ) ⊱ ━━━━.⋅ εïз ⋅.━━━━ ⊰ This project was a great stretch to get back into the groove of Rhino. I used it over the summer in small bursts, but probably not as much as I should have. Either way this was a lot of fun! Boolean difference was the main command I used. I basically made 'stamps' of shapes to mold the basic geometry with fun indents and design the arches and windows of the building. The balcony's were made by hollowing out a rectangle, with arch shapes imprinted in. The fence was made from a star shape and a circle stamped into a simple skinny rectangle. I used basically all the basic shapes, like triangles, circles, rectangles, and of course polygons. My reference was both castles and rich people vacation homes, since the concept I was going off of was a wizard's vacation home.  Some challenges I encountered was mostly just remembering commands for different actions I wanted to do, and just re-familiarizing mysel...

Milestone Project Review

 Milestone Projects ---------------------- Objectified Response For this project, after watching the documentary, I found myself most interested and inspired by the old flip phones seen in the early 2000s. Since Motorola's and Blackberries were things I grew up around. Specifically I really liked Naoto Fukasawa's design, and how it was super cubic and rounded off. With this project, I quickly found that making a model as smooth and well put together as Naoto's would not be possible within the time allotted. So instead I modelled it off of a Motorola Razor. I'd say the most challenging part of this would have been getting the curved aspects of the model, that occurred on the inside and the top of the phone. The bottom part of the phone, where the vents are, also proved tricky and I went through a lot of prototypes before finally coming to something that at least resembled the original phone.
