Papercraft Objects - Digital samples!

Image
For this project, we were required to make 3D, planar objects, then unfold them like you would with a papercraft item. It was very interesting and actually quite fun to do! 1: Dice - square dice I decided to start out easy, by replicating some pieces of a set of DnD dice I have! The four sided dice, obviously, was pretty easy. 2: Dice - Triangle This shape was a little more difficult to do, and required a lot of fighting with the rotate3D command. In the end it turned out well, however. 3: Vase I tried to replicate the very round vase on my desk. I think next time I would go with far more faces, in order to achieve a more 'rounded' look. 4: Crystal I did a really simplified model of a crystal I have in my room. I think, for my future project, that I may expand more on this idea and make it much more detailed. 5: Coffin Yes, I do actually have a small coffin just hanging out on my desk. Papercraft ₍˄·͈༝·͈˄₎◞ ̑̑ೃ࿔

Papercraft art is quite simple- it's just objects or art made from paper, of course. From what I can tell first off, the scenes are comprised from many layers of paper, and the layers keep paper more opaque or more translucent. They also poke holes in the very back layers, the most translucent, to create an effect of little lights or stars in the sky of their scenes. The details are small, precise, and immaculate. It's almost hard to wrap your head around how far they push the detail. The result is something precise, yet still flowy and playful. It's a fascinating play of elements. On their official website, they speak about the nature of their craft. “Paper is brutal in its simplicity as a medium. It demands the attention of the artist while it provide...

┌───── •✧✧• ─────┐ Here are my 6 final renders of this project! This was fun to do even if my computer threatened to explode on several occasions. I was able to do over half in final quality, but three had to be a much lower quality so that my laptop didn't melt :,) └───── •✧✧• ─────┘ *This one made my laptop crash! But it survived??
