Papercraft Objects - Digital samples!
For this project, we were required to make 3D, planar objects, then unfold them like you would with a papercraft item. It was very interesting and actually quite fun to do!
I decided to start out easy, by replicating some pieces of a set of DnD dice I have! The four sided dice, obviously, was pretty easy.
2: Dice - Triangle
This shape was a little more difficult to do, and required a lot of fighting with the rotate3D command. In the end it turned out well, however.
3: Vase
I tried to replicate the very round vase on my desk. I think next time I would go with far more faces, in order to achieve a more 'rounded' look.
4: Crystal
I did a really simplified model of a crystal I have in my room. I think, for my future project, that I may expand more on this idea and make it much more detailed.
5: Coffin
Yes, I do actually have a small coffin just hanging out on my desk. It used to hold vampire teeth, now it holds pencils. I really like this one and how it folded out.
6: Last dice
I wanted to do a more funky shaped dice- which was scary. It was hard to fit the faces together accurately, and I was again wrestling with the rotate command, haha. It still turned out nice!
Another idea I want to rework for the second half of this project. i have lots of little mushroom figurines that I adore and I think it would be super cool to have my own paper copies.
8: House
I made a simplified model of this old dollhouse I dug out from storage while looking for object ideas. This one was just fun to fold out.
9: Essential Oil container
I use my diffuser a lot, so when looking for something to make in the program this was one of the first things I spotted. This was also interesting to fold out.
10: Plant house
I have a mini bird house like thing that I keep my air plants in, so that they're safe from cats. It's shape is pretty unique so it was fun to both model and fold out. I think if I were to push this further I'd attempt at modelling the filigree on it somehow.
