Mesh Mashup Refinement

Image
Mesh Mashup Refinement ====ƪ(˘⌣˘)┐ ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ ┌(˘⌣˘)ʃ==== Here are the original projects I began with, made from tinkercad! The main critique for my projects were that most were still budding ideas, and not fully fleshed out. I totally agreed with this. I was actually eager for a critique, to help me build ideas, since I work best creatively when I can bounce ideas off of someone. My group had tons of excellent ideas, all of which I wrote down. These two were the most favoured, since they had a lot of possible story/ability to develop into something cool. Suggestions were to push the hand lamp all the way, in either a horror direction or something fantastical. Also to change the name because 1. it didn't have a lightbulb, not quite the best lamp and 2. it didn't match the vibe essentially. The toothy throne was favoured because we thought up an entire scene we could create around it, a throne room full of bones and creepy hands. From the critiques I mostly took their suggestion ...

10 Object Mashup ≧◉◡◉≦

Image
For this project, we combined at least 2 pre-existing objects into a new one, with assets from Thingaverse . Here are some of mine! I am sad to say that I leaned heavily into puns for many of them, while others I simply was eager to make something cool or absolutely cursed.👋≧◉ᴥ◉≦ All the objects I used are linked within the description.  These objects are part of a response to 'remix culture'. Remix culture has become more and more prevalent as technology has become more and more diverse. It is the consumers reaction to what the producers create- and also an instance of the consumers becoming producers. Mass production tech also helped this community. CDs can be burned onto, Cassettes loaded with your personal favorite songs- companies no longer have the final say of what their product ends up being (at least until copyright infringement comes into play). Anything can be remixed, from songs, to art, even video games can be modded and completely transformed into a new product...

Objectified Response: The Flip Phone

Image
ıllıllı THE MOTOROLA RAZR ıllıllı For my response to the 'Objectified' documentary, I decided to make a Motorola RAZR, a phone popular in the 2000s. I was inspired mostly by the phone discussed in the Japanese section of the documentary. I really liked its bevelled, cubed off design, made by Naoto Fukasawa. I also felt a wave of nostalgia when it cut through all the flip phones, and discussed them like they were cutting edge technology. It made me think about the old ‘culture’ around flip phones, and how they came in a wide variety of colours and tons of phone charms! Or when headphone jacks were used primarily for phone charms and not actual headphones.  I really liked all the analog and 70s-50s themed objects seen throughout the film, and it was super interesting to see how much designs have changed over the years. Like now, everything is so smooth and streamlined, as well as simplified. Back then, things were more ‘chunky’. I suppose this relates back to the documen...
