Papercraft Final!

Image
This project has finally come to fruition! This was really exciting to do and I had a lot of fun working with the paper I picked out, and the little extra details I added. From the prototype to now, here are the changes that have been made, taking into account critiques from last week: -legs now sit flush to body, thanks to boolean union -I added more details like eyes, nose, mouth, a belly, and a sun decoration. -arms have been made smaller so it sits better on the bear Onto the process: Here is what the new leg pattern looks like- prior to making it 2D. It wasn't very hard to figure out, and actually kind of fun to fold out. Now one end has a slant that very easily sticks to the body. Here is my set up: My trusty cutting board, scalpel, glue, and my patterned paper. As you can see, I messed up on a cut here, so I had to make some very tiny precision cuts to clean it up. The eyes I added to the pattern are also present! Putting the body together. The lines on the inside were very...

Paper Prototypes

Here is the process for my first papercraft prototype of my pattern! From my last post, things I've already changed are the bears legs, and I have scaled down it's arms and added a few missing tabs here and there. I had created a normal printer paper pattern to follow during class Monday, and it revealed to me how horribly off the scaling was. Luckily I figured out how to properly scale things consistently on the printing area. My families printer cannot print on cardstock, so I used the paper transfer method. I did not have a cutting mat- but I do have a big cutting board that self heals, and it worked just the same, haha. At this point, one change I will make is seeing if I can make the tabs any bigger on the really small pieces like the muzzle and ears. It can be glued together with some intense fiddling, but I want to see if I can make my life just a little bit easier, haha. I scored it with an old letter opener, and it was also really useful when making precise, straight ...

Papercraft Objects: Templates

Image
Here are my templates for the object I will be creating! I decided on a stuffed bear from my childhood, as I like the possibility of colours and details I can add to it along the way. Here is the bear: Templates Bear's head/muzzle Bear Ear Bear's body Bear arm/Muzzle Bear Leg! Things I'm probably going to improve on is adding more small details like paw pads, eyes, and nose, maybe even a bow. Also with the model itself, I think on areas like the arms and legs could use different shapes- just so it feels less flat. Unfortunately I was short on time this week. Depending on how good it looks all put together, I will definitely will be going back and making some changes to the model. Overall this was a fun object and I'm excited to see how it turns out, even if I'm not 100% with it right  now.
